Picture this: You hire a roofing contractor to replace your roof, and he asks for a sizable deposit, so you come up with the money.

He starts the job nearly a month late. Before he even gets a good chunk of the project done, he seriously injures himself by falling off the roof. Now he’s unable to finish the job. Not only are you out the down payment, but the job is also incomplete, leaving your home open to the elements. And to top it off, he sues you for damages!
